The study of transpacific cultural relations has become a field of research that challenges current paradigms on Latin America and theoretical models centred on Western modernity.
Laura J. Torres-Rodríguez and Araceli Tinajero, two renowned researchers in this field, will present the main hypotheses of their most recent books: Orientaciones transpacíficas: la modernidad mexicana y el espectro de Asia (2019) and A Cultural History of Spanish Speakers in Japan (2021).
